Olympic Fever
August 21, 2008 at 1:54 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentI think just about everyone who reads our blog has also caught this Olympic Fever. It’s been keeping me up late at nights and entertaining me while I work from home. But we have really gotten into this Olympic Games since we actually know someone competing- Scott Russell, the Canadian National Champion in javelin, went to KU and was in the athletic training program with Frank. Scott’s been keeping a blog about his Olympic experience, which has allowed us a glimpse of what it’s like for most athletes who get to realize their dreams of making it to the Olympics- those who aren’t mentioned every other minutes by the broadcasters or who don’t have their faces on boxes of cereal.
Last night (well, morning Beijing time), Scott finally got to compete in the qualifying rounds. Despite the less than ideal rainy conditions, he won his qualifying group and made it to the finals in 6th overall! The finals will be Saturday at 7:10am est. So overlook the fact he’s a Canadian for little while and cheer on Jayhawk Scott Russell!!
