A glimpse into our crazy life

Before & After: The nursery September 15, 2010

After painting every wall surface on the first floor, Frank took a much deserved break from DIY projects. But he couldn’t rest for long- we had a baby on the way and a nursery to create! We decided to change the bedroom we had been using as an office into the baby’s room. It was obvious that the room has previously been painted blue and they had simply slapped on some white paint when they put the house on the market. Of course, they were lazy and didn’t paint the closet so it was still baby blue.

We had a tough time deciding on a color scheme for the room that we both liked. At least we could agree on one thing- no pink! We ended up going with a color scheme that incorporated some framed artwork we already had and maybe supported our favorite alma mater just a bit. :) Frank did such a great job on the stripes- he was so diligent about getting them to look good! The crib and bookcase are new, but we hit up a consignment shop and Craiglist for the dresser and glider. I hope to paint the dresser white sometime in the future, but it works for now. And I haven’t decided what sort of window treatments to go with the existing blinds; any ideas?

So, thanks to my fabulous husband, we have a great nursery for our little Jayhawk to come home to!

I love it Emily (well ya know like 99% of it, minus a few KU items). Seriously. The stripes look great! And I love the bold colors.

I happened to go to your blog today while on hold for 25 minutes with Sprint. I’m so glad I did! The room looks great & you look stocked full with supplies already! Bring on the baby!

You guys did a great job! I think it’s so funny that you both are anti-pink and I have been totally into it since having all blue for 5 years!! Of course, the pink does get rather overwhelming….

I am so excited for you two and thinking about you everyday. I can’t wait to hear about little Jayhawk’s arrival!!!

Love the KU stuff! My suggestion for window treatments: light cancelling curtains–they really help when trying to get the kid down for an afternoon nap. Congrats on the new baby. I look forward to meeting Alaina.
